Memphis Yeshiva Invitational

Posnack School RAMS Tame Maimonides School M-CATS, 62-31

Friday morning began with a Tier 2 matchup between the #1 Posnack Rams and the #8 Maimonides M-Cats with each side looking to advance to the Tier 2 semifinals. The game started out intense, with Maimonides scoring immediately on a fast break layup. From there they traded off scores in a crazy back and forth battle, with no team holding the lead for more than a minute. Danny Missaghi of Maimonies had an impressive first quarter performance with 7 points and 2 rebounds. Posnack, however, was able to pull away at the end of the first quarter, with the quarter ending Posnack up 18-9.

Posnack came into the second quarter ready to grow their lead with an early three pointer by Gideon Greenberg, making it a 12-point game. Posnack was dominating Maimonides through their full court press, forcing Maimonides turnovers on almost every possession. At the end of the half, Maimonides was able to rally an impressive 10 point run, but it was only enough to shrink Posnack’s lead to 36 to 24 going into the locker room. Posnack’s Gideon Greenberg, with 14 points, led the game in points at the half.

Posnack came into the third quarter continuing to showcase their fast-playing abilities and aggressive defense. Although Maimonides players, such as Yakir Samuels with 5 points and 6 rebounds, showed grit in the third, their efforts weren’t enough to hold back the Posnack offense, who grew their lead to 20 points, with a score of 49-29 at the end of the third quarter.

Posnack continued to fend off Maimonides in the fourth quarter, securing a victory of 62-31. Danny Missaghi was lead scorer for Maimo with 9 points. Gideon Greenberg on Posnack had an incredible game with 28 points and 5 rebounds, securing his title as player of the game. Posnack will now advance to the Tier 2 Semifinals and Maimonides moves down to the consolation bracket.
