In a thrilling back-and-forth contest in Tier II, the #6 HAFTR Hawks held off a late surge from the #2 CESJDS Lions to secure a gritty 46–43 upset. The game was defined by intense defense, clutch rebounding, and a handful of standout performances on both sides.

A Freundlich powered the Hawks’ offense with a stellar 17 points and 8 rebounds, controlling the paint and providing crucial second-chance buckets. N Mayer added 8 points with confident perimeter shooting, while J Kaplan and D Naumberg chipped in 6 points each, helping HAFTR maintain composure through several momentum swings. Despite the win, the Hawks faced relentless pressure from a determined Lions squad. J Fisher and L Steindecker combined for 12 points, keeping CESJDS within striking distance throughout the second half.

The Lions fought back from a seven-point deficit late in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap to three in the final minute, but HAFTR’s defense held firm as they secured the closing rebounds to seal the victory.

With this win, HAFTR will move on to the Tier II championship against the #1 Ohr Hatorah Thunder, while CESJDS will play in the Tier II consolation game on Sunday.
