10-22-2012 | FORMER NBA STAR, DAMON STOUDAMIRE TO SPEAK AT INVITATIONAL

Known throughout the college and NBA ranks as “Mighty Mouse”, Damon Stoudamire was a 5 ft 10 inch dynamic point guard who led his 1995 University of Arizona WILDCATS to the final four and was named a First-Team All American, Wooden Award Finalist, and Pac-10 Co-Player of the Year.

Damon was selected the 7th overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 1995 NBA Draft, the first ever pick for the newly formed Toronto Raptor franchise. He received the Schick Rookie of the Month award twice, unanimously made the Schick All Rookie First Team, was named the MVP of the Rookie All-Star Game, and won the Rookie of the Year award (receiving 76 of the possible 113 votes). Damon was the shortest player to ever win the NBA Rookie of the Year award.

Over his 13 NBA seasons, Damon played for the Toronto Raptors, Portland Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs. He averaged 13.4 points per game; 6.1 assists per game; and 1.1 steals per game.

In February 2009, Stoudamire joined the coaching staff of the Memphis Grizzlies and, in May 2011, joined the coaching staff of the University of Memphis Tigers men’s basketball team, where his coaching and recruiting contributions were noted with enthusiasm during the ’11-’12 season.
